Garden 25 in Venice
Design: Isabelle Duvivier, Duvivier Architects
Garden Size:2,000 square feet front and back
Notable Features: Winner of the 2013 Sustainable Innovation Award by USGBC-LA. The architect homeowner’s eco-minded update to the 1912 bungalow extends to the landscape, which mingles native plants with edible zones. In the back, water is made visible with rain chains, a steel cistern, and a bespoke water wheel that feeds a riparian creek. A dry hill is planted with giant coreopsis. Native trees include western sycamore, Fremont’s cottonwood, and Santa Cruz Island ironwood.
